About Us
About the charity
The Creativity Centre Educational Trust (CCET) is a UK registered charity set up 25 years ago by Dr Marilyn Fryer and Caroline Fryer to widen access to creativity education and development.
Creativity in this sense is about enabling people to think and act in more innovative ways so that they can find new or improved ways of dealing with challenges as well as developing the skills to create new opportunities for themselves and others.
The charity is overseen by its Board of Trustees: Sally Bassett (Chair), Coll Bell, Alison Milner and Iain Burns. Caroline Fryer is the charity’s chief executive.
Dr Richard Perkin is the charity’s external advisor, succeeding Prof MK Raina, the late Dr Morris I Stein and Dr E Paul Torrance.
The charity has been working in the area of creativity and human development for over 20 years and has an excellent international reputation for this work.
We run a range of community projects in Torbay and Devon as well as our international e-journal, Creativity & Human Development. Our work is published and presented internationally.
Locally, we enable people to learn creative problem solving and other skills that they can use to overcome the problems and challenges they face such as unemployment, loneliness and social isolation.
We also run creativity development workshops for the voluntary and education sectors.

Our work

Supporting people
Our goal is to enable people to change their lives for the better by helping them to develop the skills and capacity to overcome barriers and to use their creativity to get where they want to be.

Support our work
The vital work we do is supported solely by grants and donations. See how you can help by making a donation to support our projects. Even a small regular donation can make a big impact.

Our mission
To enable individuals and organisations to develop the creative abilities they need for tackling complex challenges more effectively, to create and develop opportunities for themselves and others, benefitting the community as a whole.

Impact
We enable communities to come together for common benefit. Our projects often support those who have been marginalised, isolated or excluded. We aim to create a more equal and fair society where everyone is valued and everyone feels included.

Testimonials
A sense of community and friendship is important for health and wellbeing. Our creative activities help people to learn more about themselves and find like-minded new friends who help them to move forward.

Creating Your Future
‘The strength of the Creating Your Future course is not that it will solve all your problems but that it will empower you to come to your own informed conclusions, and act from there.
All with a strong foundation of support and a sense that there is someone there who cares whether you survive or don’t survive, to ‘stand in the gap’ for you, see you as a person not as a caseload number to be processed.’
‘I believe Creating Your Future is a wonderful model for those who want to improve their lives and self-esteem through work and service to their communities… Thank you for everything.’

Creating Your Future participants

Before Creating Your Future
‘I was burnt out… I also couldn’t decide what job would suit me best… I was struggling to stay positive.’
‘At registration I could hardly speak from feelings of grief, fear, frustration and hopelessness. I knew I wanted and needed help, but felt that there was probably not much that anyone could do for me.’
‘I felt a sense of warmth and acceptance immediately from the tutor and the other ladies – we were all in the same boat’.

After Creating Your Future
‘I have now committed to running my own CIC which will allow me to use my strengths and earn money from what I’m passionate about.’
‘The programme helped to create a shift in perspective and did a lot to improve my self-confidence and I started to feel that life could get much better still. I could see how I could use my existing skills (in web design) to continue to upskill with a view to getting IT related work.’
